Top 5 Side Hustles For Stay At Home Moms
What are good side hustles for stay at home moms? How can a stay at home mom make extra money? Here’s how I got started making money from home and have managed to stay home ever since!
Hey there – my name is Chantal. Welcome to my site!
This website is for homemakers and other mamas who want to get their stuff together. I’m glad you’re here!

If you want to learn more about me and why I started this site, be sure to check out this page.
Having a good side hustle is in my blood. My dad has always been a salesperson of SOME sort. I can remember that he always had some weird little side gig going, even when he had a full-time job.
For him, it was sort of a hobby more than just a side hustle. For me, it’s always been more of a necessity.
It might be like that for you, too.

How can a stay at home mom make extra money?
If you’re asking yourself this, I feel ya mama. Even if you’re not a mom, I think most of us can relate to “hard times” and feeling the need to bridge the gap between “making it” and “barely scraping by.”
So today I want to talk about side hustles for moms, or SAHMs, or whatever you may be. You know, so you can put a little extra dough in your pocket.
What Are Good Side Hustles For Stay At Home Moms?
While there are endless possibilities when it comes to earning extra cash, today’s post is going to focus on making money from home and online side gigs.
Obviously, there are lots of businesses you could do outside of the home (or keep it simple with things like babysitting), but that’s not what I find most homemakers want.
For me personally, it has been super important that I find a way to make money from home. Even more importantly, I need it to be flexible so that I can work around my main job as mom & wife.
So that brings me to online side hustles and businesses for stay at home moms. Let’s get to it.
Top 5 Side Hustles For Stay At Home Moms
1. Blogging
Of course this had to be at the top of my list of top side hustles for SAHMs!
Blogging is amazing in that it is the most flexible, cheap, business you can run. Plus it comes with unlimited earning potential!
I started my blog with Siteground and have never looked back!
You can start a blog for just a few dollars, then write your way to making money on your own time.
But don’t be fooled – this isn’t a quick way to make money. Blogging takes a lot of hard work and costs the most in time.
If you’re in it for the long haul, blogging could be the answer to your stay-at-home prayers.
I personally bring in a steady $800+ per month with a very part-time blogging schedule and have for a couple of years now. Once my kids are a little older and I can dedicate more time to it, game over!
Lots of bloggers are making more full-time incomes (think $3000+ monthly) by creating content online, and you can too!

2. Affiliate Marketing
New to affiliate marketing for stay at home moms?
Affiliate marketing can be done with a blog, but it doesn’t require a website! (Some of the links on this website are affiliate links, but you don’t need a site to earn money this way!)
If you’re into social media, it can be a super fun and casual way to earn money online. My favorite part about it is that you can really have fun and make it suit your personality, any niche, and you can do it with a very small time budget.
(And it’s typically totally free!)
Affiliate marketing is basically just “word-of-mouth” marketing but online.
It’s seriously SO easy to get started with affiliate marketing for stay at home moms.
You become an affiliate for a company or product that you truly enjoy, and then you simply share your links to them online. (Like my Siteground link or this link to my favorite affiliate network!)
If someone clicks and buys something using your link, you earn a commission. Super easy!
One important thing you should know about affiliate marketing is that the more visible you are, the more successful you’ll be. So in other words, the more followers you have, the better.
I highly recommend using affiliate links on your Instagram, FB, and anywhere else it’s allowed. You can sell Amazon stuff, or search “affiliate program” + your favorite brand in Google and find out if they have a program.
I will be posting more about affiliate marketing later! I promise you that I will be writing an in-depth article about this sometime soon because it’s one of my favorite side hustles for stay-at-home moms.
3. Cash Back Apps & Surveys
Cash back sites can help you rack up a ton of money if you shop online, but many can also be used in-store. You simply link up your web browser or app to a store, and you can earn rewards for your regular shopping.
My favorite cash-back app for groceries is an app called iBotta.
My favorite cash-back browser extensions/sites are Honey and Rakuten (formerly Ebates). Once installed, they give me money back once I have a verified purchase online. Since I’ve started doing most of my grocery shopping online, I’m getting a few bucks back every single month!
I turn around and spend my earnings on gift cards so I can do more shopping. 🙂 Fun!
Next up are surveys. Yes, the infamous survey sites.
I have been participating in survey sites as a SAHM side hustle for YEARS.
That’s because even though they only earn me a little bit monthly ($30-60 with a few minutes of work weekly), I would never turn down a little extra money!
When you’re on one income, $30 is date night, take-out, tickets to a movie, or whatever!
I use Swagbucks and Inbox Dollars exclusively. That’s because they are legitimate survey sites that also offer a lot of other activities to earn.
You can use them to play games, search the web, find coupons, and more. Survey sites won’t keep you from going bankrupt, but they are an easy way to get a little more change in your pocket.
4. Virtual Assistant or Freelancing
You can become a virtual assistant for just about anything these days, and I’m here for it! It’s a great SAHM side hustle.
And, if you have any sort of talent for writing, graphic design, photography, or another digital product, you can sell that online as a freelancer.
There are virtual assistants for Pinterest management, Facebook ads, bloggers, marketing agencies, and entrepreneurs of basically any kind.
Even the personal trainers I have encountered as a fitness blogger have assistants that work entirely remotely!
You can sell stock photos, manage someone’s social media account, ghostwrite blog articles, and so much more!
A quick Pinterest search into the world of remote working & freelancing will easily have your work-from-home wheels spinning. You just have to be brave – and creative!
5. Print-On-Demand Shops
Did you know that you can have a print shop that’s entirely automated and handled for you? That’s what makes it one of the greatest business ideas for stay at home moms!
You can simply create the website and designs, and a 3rd-party printer will print and ship your items for you! How’s that for an easy SAHM side hustle?
There are thousands of people doing this with crazy success! Get started with Shopify or Etsy and all you have to do is pick a niche, start designing things in Canva, and upload your designs.
Crazy cool!
I have personally played around with print-on-demand shops just a little, but you can find any number of successful entrepreneurs doing it. Just start and you will learn so much.
That’s it ladies!
Hopefully, if you’re in the market for some side hustles for stay-at-home moms, this helps you out! If you have any other tips on business ideas for stay-at-home moms, feel free to reach out.
Until next time,
