Hey there – it’s Chantal!
I’m a mom of two, NASM certified personal trainer, and I’m also a newly certified nutrition coach. (Woop woop!)
Welcome to my site!
If it isn’t obvious, I’m a little into food and fitness. I have dedicated the last 5 years of my life to learning all about exercise science, nutrition, and health in general.
But it wasn’t always that way, and that doesn’t mean that I’m perfect when it comes to food (or even working out).
Nope, I have pretty much always struggled with meal prep, motivation, and emotional eating.
It’s not something that I learned to manage well until I became an adult. But I had to choose to address it with intention.
That’s why I’m here!

My Blog & Fitness Journey Backstory (The Short Version)
This blog started out as an online fitness journal for my personal accountability.
I wasn’t a personal trainer yet – I was just a regular new mom who was desperate to feel healthy and strong again.
My first pregnancy was really dang hard and I gained a LOT of weight during it. I also lost a ton of muscle.
Unfortunately, I also gained some weight in the post-weaning period around 6 months postpartum.
The result was a super uncomfortable and depressed version of myself.

I wanted to get healthy again, but it felt like one huge fight to make one good decision. (Depression will do that to you.)
After becoming a mom, I quickly discovered just how much harder making healthy food choices was going to be when my life was busy and my body was tired.
Add in a lack of motivation and a hormonal rollercoaster and you have a recipe for disaster.
You can read more about me here, or check out my nutrition course here.
But what’s a girl to do?
With my time, energy, and motivation waning, there had to be some sort of “quick fix” when it came to nutrition.
Like many people with fitness goals, I started getting into protein shakes and smoothies.
Why?
Because it’s simply one of the most convenient and quickest ways to eat healthy when you’re in a pinch for time or energy.
Protein smoothies and shakes can be a total lifesaver when it comes to maintaining your progress and eating well.
It requires less time, less thinking, and typically, less cleanup.
You don’t have to prepare yourself a whole meal, and it’s often cheaper than eating meat or other meals.
Plus, it’s an easy way to add in greens and micronutrients where you might not otherwise.
Basically, when you’re struggling to make good decisions, it’s a total game-changer.
Fast-forward to today – I’m super grateful for the time I spent dabbling in the world of protein smoothie recipes for weight loss!
While I don’t consume protein shakes or smoothies every day, they are still my go-to when I’m in a time-crunch or when I’m getting really serious about nutrition.

Basic healthy smoothie recipe tips
Before we dive into weight loss smoothie recipes, I want to go over some general guidelines for healthy weight loss in the context of smoothies.
As a nutrition coach, I have to warn you against extreme diets of any kind.
I share these recipes as a great way to boost nutrition, but I would never advocate replacing more than one meal per day with a smoothie.
In my opinion, smoothies make a great addition to a healthy diet.
They are part of a healthy meal, but please don’t rely on just smoothies to fuel your body!
I only recommend meal replacement smoothies for when you’re in a pinch or are looking to add to your regular meals.
In short, if you’re looking for an extreme diet instead of just extra protein, I’m not the girl to come to. 🙂
Now that we’ve covered that, here are some tips for a balanced smoothie:
- Healthy fats are a good thing! They help regulate your hormones and contribute to a creamy texture. If you need help choosing fat sources, here’s a good article to read.
- Watch out for extra sugar – if your goal is weight loss, added sugar is not going to help.
- Most people need to increase their protein intake quite a bit. It helps curb appetite and contributes to muscle growth. Choose a protein powder with enough protein to keep you full!
- Smoothies can spike your blood sugar if you’re not careful. However, some natural sweeteners can help to keep your blood sugar levels from spiking, so choose carefully if you’re diabetic or concerned with that.
- Smoothies are not a magical weight loss drink. Generally speaking, you still need to be in a calorie deficit in order to lose weight.
- For most recipes, you’ll want the choice of a vanilla and chocolate protein shake as a main ingredient. Look for ones with 25+ grams of protein per serving. This is the clean protein powder I use.
- A smoothie blender makes for easier cleanup and less dishes. This is the Ninja blender that I have and recommend!
Alrightyyy then. Time for the recipes!
