If you’re like me, you have a history of “overdoing it” around the holidays.
With holiday work parties, celebrations with friends, family get-togethers, and food being the center of attention, it’s easy to see why!
Many of us lose sight of our fitness goals during this time because we are surrounded by temptation. Foods we love become readily available to us, and because they are seasonal, we tend to have a little more knowing they won’t be there forever.
Basically, we are inundated by sugary, carb-filled, fat-laden (but delicious) foods.
Every year, it seems like our motivation to eat well and continue our exercise plan wanes.
That’s why this year, I have decided that I am going to enjoy the holidays without heavy restriction – but I am not going to overboard on non-holidays.
This means that I am going to fully enjoy Thanksgiving Day (U.S.), Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day without reservations.
I’m not counting calories.
Totally having the pie, and I’m eating when my friends and family eat.
I’m enjoying everything!
However, I am NOT going to ruin those special foods and time with family by overeating seasonal junk throughout the month in between!
Many others expressed their desire to do this with me, so I decided to create a free holiday fitness challenge.
I’m running the challenge in my Facebook group for Ironwild Fitness, which is an exclusive group for women who are looking for accountability and encouragement on their weight loss journeys.

When Does The Free Holiday Fitness Challenge Run?
I’m based out of the U.S., so our Thanksgiving falls just about one month before Christmas Eve. The challenge will run from Friday, November 23rd (the day after Thanksgiving) to Sunday, December 23rd (the day before Christmas Eve).
This gives us a FULL Maintenance Month to get back on track with our fitness goals!
What Will The Free Holiday Fitness Challenge Involve?
In the free holiday fitness challenge, we’ll be doing a ton of mini-challenges. This will keep ourselves on track with our health and fitness goals. This month is not about losing a ton of weight. Instead, it’s about maintaining our health goals through the end of the year. I am not going to ask you to do anything crazy & extreme. You can be as invested as you want to, but I love it when people get really into these challenges!
Here are a few things we’ll be doing throughout the challenge:
- 12 Days of Sweatmas Challenge – Complete a minimum of 12 workouts throughout the challenge, keeping track of them with the handy calendar I’m providing.
- Meal Prep Mondays – Nothing crazy here, just meal prepping some healthy snacks at the start of each week to avoid filling up on unhealthy eats.
- Wellness Wednesdays – These days will be all about doing something in the way of self-care.
- Selfie Saturdays – We’ll be sharing pics of something healthy we did in the week prior.
Plus we’ll also be doing check-ins to see how everyone is doing!
I’m providing some fun printables (like a body measurement tracker) that you can use to stay motivated, too!
Will There Be Other Free Fitness Challenges In The Future?
