Everyday Dreamers: Nicole From Toning With Twins

Welcome to the first post of my new series, Everyday Dreamers! In this series I am featuring moms in business/blogging in the wellness niche. Today I am excited to feature Nicole from Toning With Twins! Enjoy! 

Hey ladies!

Today is a special day because I am finally getting the ball rolling with my Everyday Dreamers series. This series is all about moms who are chasing their dreams in the realm of wellness. All of the moms that I feature in this series are either bloggers or business owners in the categories of fitness, wellness, self-care, etc.

As I’ve said before, I believe that part of being holistically healthy is nourishing your mental and emotional self as well as your physical self. That means that moms should take care of themselves in many different ways!

One such way would be to continue to pursue your passions, hobbies, and career interests even after you become a mom.

We have a tendency, as moms, to put our dreams on the back burner once we have children. However, I find that while our priorities must shift a little, throwing away our hopes and dreams can seriously backfire! A mom on a mission is healthier in every sense of the word.

You are allowed to dream, mama!

It took me a long time to figure that out. But I am continually inspired by other moms who have been working at their dreams while also raising babies! When I think about strong women, this is the first thing that comes to mind.

So today I am super duper excited to share the story of an Everyday Dreamer and mama just like me!  My hope would be that you find some inspiration or encouragement by reading the story of another dreamer. Welcome to Nicole’s story!

Q: First tell us a little bit about you! (Where are you from? How old are your kids?)

A: I live in the suburbs of Detroit, MI and am a mother to fraternal twin girls, age 2.

Q: Do you have a blog or business in wellness?

A: Yes!

Q: What is the URL?

Q: What kind of business or blog do you operate?

A: My blog documents my postpartum fitness journey.

Q: How long have you been in business/blogging?
A: Since April 2017.

Q: Tell us how you got started! What made you decide to start your blog or business?

A: I’m a full-time web developer, so my passion for websites has always been there. I started getting into fitness before kids, but when I found out I was pregnant with twins, especially after just having a miscarriage, I put a halt on fitness during my entire pregnancy. Experiencing the constant changes our bodies go through during pregnancy was definitely a mind game, and I couldn’t wait to get back into working out once the twins were born. One day my gears were turning, and I thought why not create a blog to document my journey, combine my two passions of web develop and now my postpartum fitness journey, especially a mom of twins.

Q: What would you consider your business/blog’s mission?

A: My blog’s mission has always been to connect with and inspire other moms on a postpartum fitness journey. I think we all would love if we could effortlessly bounce back after baby, but the struggle is real! Trying to balance being a new mom, if you’re breastfeeding, the hormones, the lack of sleep, the body changes (twins = one stretched tummy), etc. It’s inspiring to following other moms just trying to do the best they can to reach their goals.

Q: What was your biggest hurdle in STARTING your blog/biz?

A: I think my biggest hurdle was and still is not comparing myself to others who may have an established blog or following while my numbers might not be there.
Q: What do you consider your biggest ongoing struggle in operating a blog or business?
A: I think my biggest ongoing struggle is the desire to have regularly occurring content, whether it be blog posts, Instagram stories, Instagram posts, etc. while balancing motherhood. I don’t ever want my kids to think mommy is always on her phone or computer tending to her virtual audience vs. paying attention to them.

Q: What do you believe to be key to your growth as a blogger or business owner? (Did you have any major breakthroughs or turning points?)

A: I think being authentic is key. If that means sharing my journey in the raw to someone who just might need to know they’re not alone, I’d like to be their motivation. If that means me taking time off because I’m momming, that’s part of me and my journey.
A: Don’t forget you’re also a priority! Of course our kids come first, but setting aside time each day to workout and do you, or to meal prep so you’re setting yourself up for success, you’re a role model to your children. Set healthy examples and they will follow. My toddlers are constantly stealing my healthy meal prepped foods and mimicking me when I workout, and I love it.
